SARAH'S PRAYER
In the wetness and dreariness
Of endless, chattering rain,
Young Sarah was sighing
And sorrowfully saying,
‘I have been wicked today,
So wicked that God is crying!’
Tonight, sad Sarah praying
Is sorrowfully saying,
‘I know I have been wicked today
But please God, if only for me,
Please stop crying?’
But tears, through skies, grey and bleak
Fall still, hot from heaven
To moisten caring Sarah’s cheek
